On Tuesday, I took Interstate 80 to Truckee and headed to Northstar at Tahoe. I had visited the area during the summer two years ago. You can't see much from the village area, so I was interested in coming back to ski it.
It's hard to tell from these photos, but the place is extremely large with many runs.
I didn't ski as much of the area as I wanted. This year, the Sierras had heavy snow and great conditions during January. At the time I went, the snow was sticky and melting fast. You can see rocks in the photo above. When they said "thin cover," they weren't kidding. My skis started scrapping bottom throughout the turns and I only skied this run once.
