Diamond Peak

On Wednesday my legs were complaining about the hammering they took, so I went to the blackjack tables and my wallet got hammered instead. Thursday, I headed past Mt Rose to Diamond Peak. This is also another small area, but there's been a ton of building around here. Condominiums are everywhere.

I wanted to ski Diamond Peak because the e-mails they kept on sending me sounded intriguing. When I got there, I found a older lodge and a skeleton crew that was getting ready to shut down for the season. They should give their marketing people a raise!

The one thing I did not expect to see was the absolute best views of Lake Tahoe. You can see about two-thirds of the lake. They have a mid-mountain lodge where you can sit inside and gaze to your heart's content. The view alone puts this place on my must ski list.

Being a smaller resort, it also has an earthy charm of its own.

Although this picture would make you believe otherwise, much of their base was in excellent shape. I was lucky. A weather front had just arrived, and the snow was cold and fast. I stayed until the lifts closed.

Definitely some of the best views of Lake Tahoe.
